About
Wharfedale Fell and Dale is a small, friendly running group exploring the fells, moors, and dales of Upper Wharfedale. Most of our runs start around Grassington and Threshfield, though we regularly head further afield for longer routes, recce runs, races, and days out in the hills.
We run for the love of the outdoors — no pressure, no expectations, just good running in great country and good company. In time, we hope to organise club races, social events, and the occasional pub run too.
Runners of all abilities are welcome. If you can get yourself up a hill and back down again, you’ll fit right in. Fell or trail shoes are recommended, along with suitable kit for the conditions, including waterproofs and extra layers when needed.
Members’ interests range from local fell races and recce runs to trail half marathons and ultra-distance events such as the Fellsman.
Our Runs
We meet on Tuesdays at 6:45pm in Grassington Square for social runs across the local fells and trails. Typical runs range from 5 to 15 miles depending on the route and group, taking in the moorland, riverside paths, and limestone scenery that make Upper Wharfedale such a great place to run.
We’re also hoping to offer longer weekend social runs on Saturdays or Sundays, aimed at building distance for half marathons, full marathons, and ultra-distance events.
As a group, we aim to support each other at local fell races, trail events, and long-distance challenges — whether that’s heading out for a recce, sharing training miles, or cheering each other on during race day.
At the moment we run as a single group, but as numbers grow we may introduce smaller ability groups to help manage pace and group size.
